This topic is one I have spent much time considering. Because my family moved often as a child I was unable to retain friendships. (This was way before computers and cell phones). Once we moved, the relationship ended, and I grieved them. It didn't take long for me to not try anymore. Having a friend and losing them was harder than not having a friend. As an adult, I have tried hard to value my friends and to keep them. When a friendship faded away, I was hard on myself. Now I know it is common for some friendships to fade away and for others to remain. I do my best to be the friend I would like to have. This post made me think about all the childhood friends I had, even if for a brief time and to cherish the memories.

I love this. And I’ve had many experiences with falling out with friends. Sometimes things just fade… and sometimes things just run their course. I always look at the relationship in a positive light, though. I always learn something from everyone I have chosen to bring into my life.
